What is a Vision?
I once heard a couple of good examples of how to explain vision…
"A
dream you have while you sleep, a vision you have while your
awake"
"A
vision is like having God reach into your head and push play
on a video recorder and seeing this awesome movie of the future
that God has in store for you and your organization"
The
following vision statement represents a one sentence version
of the vision God showed us for Rockdale Community Church
of Christ. It also encompasses all facets of the Dream.
"All
People . All Ages . One God - A Church of Thousands Impacting
thousands"
This
vision is not about numbers, it's about impacting people's
lives with the truth of Gods word.
It's
about being a vibrant part of our community and loving and
caring for all the people in our community in a way that honors
God and follows Christs example laid out for us in Gods word.
Most
of all it's about sharing Gods truth, through the powerful
teaching and preaching of Gods living word and helping people
to apply it daily in their lives.
Our
Purpose
Our purpose or mission if you like, is what
we do every day to see our vision fulfilled.
Grow
... Build ... Serve
Our
purpose is to Grow in God together and then help others to
Grow, we grow through great times of worship and prayer, through
great teaching and preaching of Gods word, and a solid understanding
of scripture through good discipleship of Gods people.
We
are also called to build ministiries that continually build
people up in God, His word, his will and his ways and help
impact our lives.
But
ultimately each of us are called to Serve God and one another
so that God can Build his Church through us. God has given
us all the great privledge of being his children, but he has
ordained those who know him to live like him and Jesus said
of himself "I did not come to be served, but to serve".
So
come along and get involved and let God use you mightily for
his purpose.
